Light Sciences (now LSO) was founded in 1994 to develop a commercially viable light-activated drug product to treat patients with solid tumor cancers. LSO has built a strong development organization with an efficient team overseeing engineering, clinical trials, manufacturing, and regulatory/legal affairs. The company is developing Aptocine, a light-activated drug with a small, single-use, disposable drug activator that is designed for easy use by physicians to provide tolerable, effective, and repeatable treatments to patients.
LSO completed a $67 million Series A preferred financing in late 2005. A $30 million Series B preferred financing was completed in June 2007, and a $40.1 million Series C preferred financing was completed in July 2008.
